WHAT IS COLOR DOPPLER SONOGRAPHY?
In color Doppler the blood circulation is assessed. It is more often done in diabetic patients, in chronic smokers who are more prone to develop blockage in their arteries, in patients who suffer from varicose vein problem.
It is non invasive test which tells you about blood circulation to any particular part of the body like upper limb, lower limb, blood supply to any tumor or swelling involving the body.
Carotid Doppler is done to check for blood circulation going towards brain.
Peripheral and carotid color Doppler does not need any special preparation, except for renal Doppler where patient has to be empty stomach for 4-6 hours.
